MWVCAA's Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Senior/Disabled Outreach Program will begin scheduling appointments for households with senior or disabled members Tuesday October 1, 2013 appointments to begin October 7, 2013. General Public LIHEAP appointments will be scheduled starting December 2, 2013 appointments to begin Thursday, January 2, 2014.
LIHEAP is a voluntary energy assistance program that assists eligible households with heating expenses. Residents of Marion & Polk counties with household income within 60% of Oregon median income guidelines (listed below) may apply. Appointments are first come first served.
Applicants need to provide Social Security cards & birthdates for all members. Proof of gross income and identification is required for all household members age 18 and over. Income includes: gross wages, self-employment, unemployment, public assistance, social security benefits, veterans benefits, work-study, child support, adoption assistance, withdrawn interest, etc. Household members 18 and older, with zero income, are required to sign an in office declaration of zero income form. All applicants need to provide current heating bill(s) and a current subsidized housing statement or rent summary (if receiving rental assistance).
The energy assistance applicant must be the account holder of the heating utility account
