To promote quality child care services by partnering with the community to offer education and support for families, businesses, and child care professionals in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties.Child Care Information Service
A private, non-profit resource and referral program that serves Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties. It is a program of the Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency, Inc. Our services fulfill a wide range of needs within these communities and they are provided at no cost to you!Services to Child Care Providers:
- CCIS helps market your program! We will refer potential clients to your program based on individual family needs.
- CCIS provides ongoing outreach and support to child care providers on our database.
- We maintain current information on each child care program.
- We consult with individuals interested in becoming child care providers and implement trainings to help achieve this goal.
- Ongoing training and resources for child care providers concerning licensing, nutrition, health, operating a small business, parenting education, learning environments, infant/toddler development, social/emotional development, diversity, and many other topics.
- CCIS will also help providers connect with each other through local, state, and national associations.
Services to Parents:
- CCIS assists parents in making an informed choice about quality child care. CCIS is a Quality Assured Child Care Resource and Referral Program through Child Care Aware and our National Child Care Resource and Referral Association.
- We refer parents to child care homes, group homes, preschools, after school programs and centers near where they live, close to their work, or near their child’s school.
- We provide parents with information on what to look for in a quality child care program in terms of: ratios, learning environments, interview questions when speaking to a potential child care provider, safety issues, reference checks, etc…
- CCIS also provides information on classes, support groups, and special events for parents and children.
Employer Contracts:
- CCIS will conduct on-site workshops and provide consultations on parenting and how to select quality child care.
- We match employees with child care providers that meet their families’ needs.
- These services vary according to the needs of each business. A package tailored to an individual company can be arranged.
Scholarships:
Some funding is available to help subsidize Child Care Providers’ ability to attend trainings. This program is designed to assist you in meeting ongoing training needs, please call CCIS to obtain more information and to see if you qualify.
Migrant Child Care Program:
- A service to migrant families that allows CCIS to contract with local child care providers in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill Counties to help pay for the cost of care for such families.
- Allows the parents to work in agriculture and afford to keep their children in the most appropriate setting, a quality child care program.
Toy and Equipment Lending Library:
- Resources are available through this service for child care providers and parents to access.
- Check out these materials through our main office on a monthly basis.
- Some of the items include: books on child development, videos on quality child care issues, toy structures for child care programs, games, art supplies, craft ideas, strollers, car seats, drama equipment, etc…
